Watch Condition Guide
When evaluating a luxury watch, condition plays an important role in determining value. This guide explains how watch condition is typically assessed and what each category means.
New / Unworn
The watch shows no signs of wear and has not been worn since purchase. Protective stickers may still be present. The watch is in factory condition and may include original box, papers, and accessories.
Excellent
The watch has been lightly worn but remains in near-original condition. Minor signs of handling may be visible under close inspection, such as faint hairline marks. The watch functions properly and has no visible damage.
Good
The watch shows normal wear consistent with regular use. Light scratches or small marks may be present on the case or bracelet. The watch remains fully functional and presentable.
Fair
The watch shows noticeable wear. Scratches, dents, or polishing marks may be visible. The watch may benefit from servicing but is still complete and authentic.
Needs Service
The watch may not be functioning correctly or shows significant cosmetic wear. Issues may include timekeeping problems, damaged components, or missing parts. These watches can still be evaluated, but condition will affect value.
Box and Papers
Original box, warranty card, manuals, and service records can positively influence value but are not required. Watches without documentation are still welcome for evaluation.
